Friday March 19th: Greetings to Ephemera Society members. We’re currently transitioning our main website to this new design; so the offerings seen here (from the recent Printed Matter Virtual Art Book Fair) are skewed towards the history of the avant-garde and artist posters and ephemera. We also specialize in the human sciences and design history. You can subscribe to our email list to receive notice of future updates ...

Dibbets, Jan
[Bykert Gallery, in nine exposures].
New York: Bykert Gallery, 1971.

#17293. Photo-illustrated invitation (16.5 cm. square); recto featuring original silver gelatin print photograph. Typescript address to verso (Allen Memorial Museum in Oberlin, Ohio), with postmark for April 15th. Signs of mailing, with pronounced crease to bottom-right corner.

A clever, site-specific invitation for an exhibition of Dibbets’ work at the influential Bykert Gallery (April 21 through May 15, 1971). Dibbets here presents the ground-floor sign for the second-floor gallery (in its second, Uptown manifestation), through a  series of nine progressive exposures.
